- 1 cup Toor dal
- 1 bunch Fenugreek leaves
- 1 cup Onion chopped
- 1 Tomato chopped
- 1 clove garlic crushed
- 6 Green chillies slit
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 sprig Curry leaves
- 1 tbsp Oil
- Salt to taste
Method:
- Separate the leaves from the stem, discard the lower part of leaves and yellow leaves.
- Wash them well and chop finely.
- Wash toor dal with water.
- In a pressure cooker add toor dal, fenugreek leaves, garlic, green chillies, 1/2 cup of onion, tomato, turmeric powder and pour water until all the ingredients are covered.
- Pressure cook for 3 whistles, leave untouched until pressure is released.
- Now heat a pan, add oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, remaining onion and fry well.
- Now remove the lid of the pressure cooker, Mash thoroughly with ladle.
- Transfer the fried onions to the dal.
- Adjust water to dilute it, add salt and mix well.
- Allow to boil for 3 mins.
- Transfer to a serving bowl.
- Serve hot with rice and ghee.
