Stuffed Chili Bajjis

Ingredients for Stuffing:
  • 2 Large green chili peppers
  • 1 Potato
  • 1/2 tsp Chili powder
  • 4 tbsp Sweet chutney / Dates chutney
  • 1/2 cup Onion chopped finely
  • 2 tbsp Coriander leaves chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste

Ingredients for Batter:
  • 1 cup Gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida
  • 2 tsp Hot oil
  • 1 tsp Rice flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Water


Method:
  1. Take a fork and poke the Potato on all the sides.
  2. Now place on one edge of the rotating glass in the microwave.
  3. Microwave for 6-8 mins.
  4. Remove and peel the skin and place it in a bowl and mash it.
  5. Add onions, coriander leaves, chili powder, cumin seeds and salt.
  6. Mix them all well without any lumps.
  7. Now slit the chili from top to bottom.
  8. Remove the seeds as much as possible.
  9. Do not cut into half.
  10. Now add the 2 tbsp of Sweet chutney into the chili.
  11. On top of that stuff the potato mixture.
  12. Do the same for another chili also and keep aside.
  13. Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying.
  14. Now add gram flour in a bowl.
  15. Add rice flour, chili powder, asafoetida, hot oil and salt.
  16. Pouring water little by little mix it to a form of a thick batter.
  17. Now dip the stuffed chillies in the batter and gently put it in the hot oil.
  18. Fry on all the sides. Remove and place on a paper towel.
  19. Then slice the chillies as shown in the picture.
  20. Serve along with Seasoned puffed rice.

Ingredients for Seasoned Puffed Rice:
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chili powder
  • 1/4 cup Onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup Grated carrot
  • 2 tsp Coriander leaves chopped
  • 2 tsp Roasted peanuts
  • Salt to taste

Method:
  1. Heat oil in a kadai, when hot remove from flame.
  2. Now add turmeric powder and chili powder. Mix well.
  3. Now add the puffed rice, sprinkle little salt.
  4. Now keep this again on medium flame.
  5. Keep sauteing.
  6. When warm remove from flame.
  7. Now take this seasoned puffed rice in a large bowl.
  8. Add few onions, carrots, coriander leaves and peanuts. Mix well
  9. Now transfer on a plate.
  10. Top it with remaining onions, carrots, coriander leaves and peanuts.
  11. Now place the sliced Stuffed Chili bajji.
  12. Enjoy as a snack with hot chai !!!

Note:
  1. If your chillies are very large, stuff with potato and then cut into half.
  2. Then dip in batter and proceed.
