Beetroot Poriyal 2
Ingredients:
- 1 Beetroot Big size
- 1 Dry red chili broken
- 1/4 cup Onion finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp Chili powder
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 clove Garlic crushed
- 1 sprig Curry leaves
- 2 tbsp Chana dal
- 1 tbsp Urad dal
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt to taste
Method:
- Peel the skin of the beetroot.
- Wash it and grate it.
- Now heat a pan, add oil, when hot add mustard seeds, when they splutter add chana dal and urad dal.
- Add red chili and fry until light brown.
- Now add curry leaves, onion and garlic.
- Fry for few seconds, add turmeric power, chili powder and coriander powder.
- Mix them all well.
- Now add the grated beetroot and salt. Mix well.
- Reduce the flame to medium.
- Cover the lid and cook until the beetroot is soft.
- Stir in between.
- Remove and transfer to a bowl.
- Serve as a side dish for steamed rice.
- It is also great with chapati.
Note:
- For little variation, shredded coconut can also be added.
- Beetroot is very good source of Iron, calcium, .
- It is thus extremely useful in the treatment of anaemia.
- It is good cleaner for our body, good for skin, kidney, circulatory system, constipation and so on.
- It also helps in purifying our blood bringing more oxygen.
- So whenever you see a beetroot, don't skip.
