Ingredients:
- 1 cup Dry Anchovies fish
- 1 cup Onion fine chopped
- 1 cup Tomato chopped
- 2 flakes Garlic crushed
- 1 lemon size Tamarind
- 1 tbsp Chili powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 4-6 Fenugreek seeds
- 1 sprig Curry leaves
- 3 tsp Oil
- Salt to taste
Method:
- Soak the dry fish in water for 10 minutes.
- Now pull the head portion of the fish and discard it.
- Wash the cleaned fish thoroughly for 2-3 times with water and turmeric and keep aside.
- Now remove the extract from tamarind by soaking in hot water and keep aside.
- Now heat a kadai or wok, add oil, when hot add mustard seeds, when the seeds splutter add fenugreek seeds and curry leaves.
- Now add onion and garlic, fry them until light brown.
- Add tomatoes and fry until oil leaves the sides.
- Now add turmeric powder and chili power, mix well.
- Now add the tamarind extract, salt and 2 cups of water.
- Bring to boil and close the lid and cook it for 5 minutes.
- Now add the fish and cook for 4 minutes.
- Serve hot with rice, dosa or idli.
Note:
- This curry tastes even more better when the fish is marinated in the curry for at least 4 hours.
- So prepare in morning and serve at afternoon.
Ingredients:

Method:
- Soak the dry fish in warm water for 10 minutes.
- Now discard the head part of the fish and wash thoroughly again and again.
- Now heat a pan, add oil, when hot add the fish and keep frying stirring in between.
- Add turmeric powder, chili powder and salt and keep frying the fish until they are very crispy.
- The fish should be fried crisp enough so that they break into half when bent.
- Serve as a side dish or can be had just like that.
Ingredients:
- 4 Fish fillets
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 1/2" piece Ginger
- 1/4 cup Onion chopped
- 1 sprig Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
Method:
- Add all the ingredients in the mixie jar, leaving the fish.
- Grind to a fine paste adding very little water.
- Wash the fish and place in a bowl.
- Add the grounded paste to it and mix well, so that the fish is well coated with the masala.
- Marinate for 2-3 hours. Keep in refrigerator.
- Now heat a griller and place these marinated fishes on the grill.
- Spray oil and cook for 3 mins.
- Now flip the fish gently, spray oil and cook for 3 mins.
- Remove and serve on a plate with lemon wedges.
Note:
- This recipe can be done on normal non stick pan.
Ingredients:
- 3 Tilapia fish fillet (boneless)
- 1 tsp Green chilies chopped
- 2 tbsp Coriander chopped
- 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp Cumin (jeera) powder
- 1/4 tsp Red chili powder
- 1 tsp Lemon juice
- 1 cup Bread crumbs
- 1 Egg whisked
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1/4 cup Water
- Salt to taste
Method:
- In a microwave safe bowl, place the fish fillets and cover with clear wrap making small holes on it for the steam to escape and microwave for 7mins.
- OR
- In a microwave safe bowl add 1/4 cup of water and fish fillets and microwave for 7mins by closing the lid slightly.
- When the fish turns white then it is cooked. Discard all the water.
- Take another bowl and put these cooked fish and mash it with fork.
- Allow to cool.
- Preheat the oven to 450 F.
- To the fish add green chillies, coriander, ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, bread crumbs, egg, chili powder, lemon juice and salt and mix well.
- you should be able to hold the mixture to make balls. If not add little more bread crumbs.
- Now divide this mixture into 10 equal portions and shape each portion to a flat cutlet.
- You can also make large size for burgers.
- Grease a flat baking tray with oil. Place these cutlets gently on the tray and bake for 8mins, turning the cutlets over after 4mins.
- Serve hot with tomato ketchup and fries.
- Enjoy this delicious cutlet which is a healthy alternative to the deep fried cutlets.
